Courses and Career Options after Class 12 in Arts & Humanities

Gone are the days when the Humanities students had a limited scope and options in career fields after completing 12th. A plethora of opportunities awaits Arts students if they have knowledge in subjects like English, Political Science, Geography, History, and Economics. Arts is indeed a very diverse field and the students belonging to this discipline can make their career in a variety of fields including- law, journalism, fashion, marketing, aviation or other professional courses and even business setups.

Below is the list of Career options and courses available for Class 12th Humanities stream, to have a good professional life:

 

Humanities and Social Sciences

Bachelors of Humanities and Social Sciences( BA) is an Undergraduate program covered over a duration of 3 years. One should have a minimum of 50% from an authorized board in the Arts stream for this course.

 

Sociology

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology is a 3 years Undergraduate program for 12th Arts students. For admissions into Sociology, one requires a minimum of 50% from an authorized examination board. In this course, students get to investigate multiple aspects of society and social behaviours.

 

Psychology

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology is another Undergraduate program for students from the Arts background, which involves the study of the human mind and human behaviour. This course is spread over a duration of 3 years, with a minimum requirement of 50%. In BA Psychology, students get to learn the basic theories and applications related to Psychology and Psychoanalysis.

 

Mass Communication, Film and Journalism

Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism (BAJMC) is a 3 years Undergraduate course for the Humanities stream students. Students who aspire to become Special Correspondent, Editor, Producer, Art Director, Screenwriter, PR Officer, Sound Engineer or a Photojournalist can take admissions in BAJMC. This course also involves reporting for reputed newspapers, magazines and TV channels.

For admissions into Mass Communication and Journalism, the students need to have at least 50% in boards, with English as one of the compulsory subjects.

 

Business and Law

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelors of Law (BA LLB) is a 5 years integrated Law course offered at the undergraduate level for the 12th Arts students. For admissions into BA LLB, aspirants need to clear Class 12th with a minimum of 50% in order to be eligible for the course. Clearing All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) can add to the advantage of taking up admissions into good colleges.

 

Hotel Management and Tourism

Bachelor of Business Application (BBA) Tourism and Hospitality is an Undergraduate course after 12th Arts. For BBA in Tourism and Hospitality one needs to have a pleasing personality and an ability to interact with people from diverse cultures. This course offers job opportunities in various Operational positions in Hotel Industry, Entrepreneurship, cabin crew, Event Manager.

 

Fashion Designing

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Fashion Design is a 3 years Undergraduate degree undertaken to become a designer. After completing this course the students can make a career as a Fashion Designer, Merchandiser, Fashion Coordinator, Fashion Blogger / Writer, etc.
