PM Modi lays foundation stone of first ever university in Ladakh

  • The Jammu region has four universities, an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and an Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).

 

The Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of the first-ever university in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. The PM has launched the first ever cluster university in Ladakh region, named as the University of Ladakh on February 3, 2019. The Jammu and Kashmir administration approved the establishment of the first university in the Ladakh region on December 15.

 

  • After the inauguration, PM Modi told PTI, “Ladakh now has first cluster university comprising degree colleges of Leh, Kargil, Nubra, Zanskar, Drass, and Khaltsi. The university will have administrative offices in Leh and Kargil.”

 

Universities in Jammu and Kashmir:

 

The Jammu region has four universities, an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and an Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), while the Kashmir Valley has three universities and a National Institute of Technology (NIT).
