The University is seeking feedback from academia, alumni, public sector experts, professionals and industrialists to chalk out a robust curriculum in sync with the demand of 4th Industrial revolution.

The curriculum is also aimed at encouraging global outlook, CSR and other societal needs among students. The updated curriculum will be available for public review till May 31, 2019, post which the faculty deans will review the suggestions and feedback submitted for courses of their departments.

However, the final decision on incorporating the proposed suggestions lies with the University’s Standing Committee.

“Departments have developed the second draft and made several changes in the existing curriculum, including weekly-reviews, definite learning outcomes, teaching practices, assessment strategies and tasks. The revised curriculum is also being sent to the toppers of previous batches and alumni for students‘ perspective,” says CS Dubey, chairperson, Undergraduate Curriculum Revision Committee, DU.

The revised curriculum can be accessed at http://ugcr2019.du.ac.in/index.php/dept_list and feedback forms can be submitted directly on the dashboard. The feedback forms for every course consists of 15 questions out of which 14 are closed-ended questions with Yes and No options. To provide a detailed feedback, a user must select ‘No’ as an answer. However, question 15 is an open ended question and offers an option to provide “Any Other Suggestions”.

Every department is also responsible for getting their curriculum reviewed by experts, says Dubey. “To receive expert opinions on the revised curriculum, it is mandatory for the departments to seek reviews from two national and three international domain experts,” he adds.

The revised curriculum is based on Learning Outcome-based Framework (LOCF) issued by UGC in 2018. However, the curriculum revision was pending since 2017, as per the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) guidelines. The final draft of the revised curriculum is expected to be submitted to the University Council by June 20. Students enrolling in UG courses this session will study the updated coursework.
