Students looking at specialities in STEM, say education experts

Computer science courses remain the most sought after among students who want to head to the US, but experts say specialisations within its vast umbrella are getting enquiries from Telugus.

While STEM courses remain popular among Indian students, many have come asking about specialisations within this ambit,” said Bhavna Jolly, senior programme officer, EducationUSA at United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF). She was speaking at the annual university fair organised by USIEF and EducationUSA held in the city on Thursday.

The 10-city fair has 77 participating universities. Representatives from 48 universities were in the city. Also in attendance was US consul general in Hyderabad Joel Reifman. Among the universities that had representation were Arizona State University, Iowa State University, University of San Francisco and Syracuse University.

Pranav Pradhan, director of international admissions, University of San Francisco said, “Within the broader scope of computer science, courses such as data analytics have garnered a lot of attention.
