IIPA confers Paul H. Appleby award upon Punjabi University Patiala VC Prof BS Ghuman

The Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi has conferred the prestigious “Paul H. Appleby” award upon the Punjabi University Patiala Vice-Chancellor Professor BS Ghuman, for his distinguished and outstanding contribution to the theory and practice of Public Administration and services to IIPA. The award to Prof Ghuman was bestowed upon by the Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu.

The award is conferred upon Prof BS Ghuman in the light of his being an internationally renowned academician and educational administrator. He is one of the handful of academicians, who have a deep understanding of University Administration ranging from policy matters to day-to-day functioning.

Prof Ghuman gained the acumen in policymaking in the field of education administration in his capacities of Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Senator of Panjab University and GNDU, Amritsar; Syndic of PU besides being an expert member of various committees of the UGC.

Prof Ghuman was associated with the preparation of all the policy documents of PU including PU Vision Document 2020. He is a member of the Executive Council of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Calgary – New Delhi which is a binational body promoting Indo-Canadian studies. Prof Ghuman is also a Senior Associate of South Asian Studies Institute, University of the Fraser Valley, Canada and adjunct Professor, UFV, Canada. He has been instrumental in promoting collaborations of PU and Punjabi University with various foreign universities. Prof Ghuman’s mission is the promotion of quality-centric teaching and research as well as making higher education equitable and relevant to society and the market.
