Punjab govt urged to open scholarship portal for SC students

Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) urged the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Punjab Government to open Dr. Ambedkar’s Scholarship Portal for SC students of Punjab for the session 2019-20.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA while giving more information said that in past years, the portal gets open in the month of August or September to apply the scholarship for SC students but this year the process got delayed by around 3 months.

Amit Sharma, Senior Vice President, PUCA added that Colleges have admitted SC Students without fees as per the directions of the Govt but now if the Govt will not open the portal at the earliest then the unaided colleges of Punjab would be forced to charge fees from the SC students as various Govt. universities have already released the schedule of final examinations.

It is to be mentioned that under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, around 3 lac SC students from all over Punjab take admission in various courses and colleges.
