CFI 2019 IIT Madras showcases 4 globally acclaimed innovations

The students of IIT Madras conducted their annual Centre for Innovation open house for the general public at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras on November 2, 2019, Saturday. The students showcased over 50 projects at the Centre for Innovation (CFI).

The CFI open house is conducted every year to bring out the recent work and achievements of student innovators. This exhibition also provides an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their products on a large scale, which also leads to implementation.

Some of the projects displayed and demonstrated in the CFI like Formula cars and Drones, next-generation technologies like Hyperloop, have also won various international acclaims.

One of the teams to demonstrate their project at CFI was Avishkar Hyperloop. It is the only team from Asia to be among the top 22 teams, shortlisted from over 1600 entries worldwide, to qualify for the finals of 2019 Hyperloop Pod Competition organised by Spacex.

Raftar Formula Racing car was also among the CFI teams. It was the only Indian team to qualify for Formula Student Germany 2018.
About the Centre for Innovation

The Centre for Incubation of CRI is a complete student-run platform. The vision to set up CFI was to encourage engineers to apply knowledge from their academic pursuit to innovate and propose solutions to real-world problems.

Since the establishment of CFI in 2016, many startup branches have come out in the global market. This year four teams have represented IIT-Madras and the country in international competitions including

Raftar Formula Racing,
Anveshak,
Abhiyaan,
Avishkar Hyperloop

Talking about the impact of CFI, Student Executive head, CFI, IIT Madras said, Multiple innovations from the CFI community have been accepted and lauded by government agencies and private industries/businesses for having tremendous potential to improve lives.

The CFI consists of ten clubs ad four competition teams with 600 students involved in activities over the year.

Autonomous Driving in a Simulated Environment
Hate Speech Detection
Text-to Braille converter
