Maharashtra TET schedule released; exam in January 2020

The schedule for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has finally been announced by the state education department. The exam will be held in January 2020 after a gap of two years. the schedule was announced by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination and the exam is scheduled on January 19. Both papers, I and II, will be conducted on the same day. the last date to fill applications has been set for November 28.

The TET was made mandatory from 2013 according to the Right to Education Act. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination has introduced a few changes in the exam pattern this year. The teachers teaching for Standards I to VIII will have to give both papers and they can appear for the specific subjects of degree specialization only.

As per the RTE Act, the state government introduced TET and made it mandatory for teachers, in order to continue their service. After July 15, 2018, no test was conducted.

The exam council stated that the candidates will get their online hall tickets between January 4 and 19. The first paper will be held from 10.30 am to 1 pm and second paper from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
