UPRTOU to hold 14th convocation on Nov 29

The 14th convocation of UPRTOU Allahabad would be organised on November 29. The programme will be chaired by Governor Anandiben Patel.

Talking to media at the Phaphamau campus of the lone open university of the state, the vice chancellor Prof K N Singh said that Padmashri Ashok Bhagat, founder secretary ‘Vikas Bharti’, Ranchi, will deliver the convocation speech. Besides, state minister for higher education, UP government, Neelima Katiyar, will be guest of honor.

Renowned social activist Ashish Gautam, founder president ‘Divya Prem Sewa Mission’, Haridwar will be given honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) for his works in the field of social-welfare.

The VC further informed that 18 gold medals will be awarded to the students who are from different schools of University. 14, out of these18 medals have been bagged by female students. Degrees would be awarded to students passed in the examination of December 2018 and June 2019 session.

Prof Singh informed that all the necessary preparations for the convocation have been completed. About 1300 students have registered themselves online for attending the convocation and obtaining degrees. Research students of the University will also be awarded PhD degree. Students of the varsity from all over the state are coming to attend the convocation.This convocation would be organised in the traditional dress. Students obtaining degrees in the convocation would be wearing traditional attire, white coloured Kurta-Dhoti/Pyajama for male students and yellow sari/salwar-suit for female students.

The chancellor medal will be awarded to Diksha Chugh from government PG College, Noida, Gautambuddha Nagar. She completed her MA (Statistics) and obtained 87.53% among all the graduate and post graduate students. In the PG category, Rohit Kumar Shukla, students of MA (Sanskrit) from Jawahar Lal Memorial PG College Barabanki, will be awarded University’s Gold medal from school of humanities etc.

Similarly, in the graduate category gold medal would be awarded to the toppers from six schools this include Riya Verma (humanities), Anita Chauhan (Social sciences), Amreesh Yadav (Management), Shivam Pandey (Computer and Information Sciences), Heera Tamkeen (Education) and Afsana Parveen (Science).

Prof Singh further told that five meritorious students will be awarded donor gold medals. Among these, Babu Om Prakash Gupta memorial gold medal will be awarded to Heera Tamkeen, Late Anil Meena Chakrawarti memorial gold medal will be awarded to Anita Chauhan and Sadhna Verma. Prof MP Dube environment / gandhian thought and peace study excellence gold medal will be awarded to Veerangi Verma, and Prof MP Dube Divyang Medha gold medal will be awarded Pramod Kumar Singh. The University has also decided to award one new donar gold medal i.e. Pt Sohan Lal Dwivedi memorial gold medal which would be awarded to Pragya Yadav from Azamgarh.

The VC added that this convocation would be polythene free and there will also be participation from a self-help group of women and selected students of junior high school in the district, inform Prabhat Chandra Mishra, media coordinator.
