In an appeal to make spiritualism an indispensable part of education, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel said that the government was committed to bring improvement in education system especially higher education.
Patel was addressing the first convocation of Jan Nayak Chandrashekhar University (JNCU) in Ballia on Thursday.
“There is a need of an overall change right from curriculum to basic structure so that skilled young generation could be prepared to face global challenges and resolve social problems. Education is the backbone of the society and nation. The solution of many serious problems lies in technical education. But, it should be kept in mind that we do not deviate from the basic goal of education in this race,” she said. “According to Indian thought process, tradition education is considered as the medium for character improvement, and the entire world is looking towards Indian thought process with hope,” she added.
Lauding the girls for bagging maximum number of gold medals, she said that it is a glaring example of women empowerment in the country.
Of the 27 gold medalists 24 were girls. Similarly, 2,682 girls out of 4,035 graduates received the degrees.
Speaking about the works of social interests, she exhorted people for their active participation in such works. She appealed to stop the waste of food and water. She also called upon people for their active support in making the country TB-free by 2025. She thanked the vice-chancellors of state universities for adopting 7,000 children for TB treatment.
Governor also invited 50 students of Basantpur upper primary school at the convocation as her guests. She gifted them school bags, story books, tiffin boxes, pencil boxes and water bottles. She also appealed the parents to keep a watch on the quality of mid-day meal in schools. The convocation was also addressed by vice-chancellor of Lalit Narayan Mithila University Prof Surendra Singh and JNCU vice-chancellor Prof Yogendra Singh.
