Conference on technology and innovation in Mathematics education at IISER

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune will host Technology and Innovation in Mathematics Education (TIME) Conference 2019 from December 26 to 28. This is a biennial conference of Mathematics department of IIT Bombay, which is being jointly organised this year by IISER, Pune and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere.

In this forum, mathematics educators and teachers come together to discuss and probe major issues associated with the integration of technology in mathematics teaching and learning. They also share their perspectives, personal experiences, and innovative teaching practices.

The conference will be held at New Lecture Hall, Indrani Balan Centre at IISER and this is the ninth conference in the series that was started in 2005. The last conference was held in 2017 at Indore and was attended by about 170 participants, said the official note from IISER.

Mathematics educators, teachers (schools / colleges / higher education) can ideally participate in the event. While presenting a paper is not compulsory, registration is to attend all the talks and learn about the role of technology in Mathematics education, and participate in the various discussions and workshops.

Hands on workshops on the role and use of hardware like calculators and Computers, Tablet PCs, and software like Geogebra, Maple, Mathematica, Mupad, and others in mathematics education will also be one of the many events conducted in the conference, says the IISER website.
