recruitment

Navneet Singh, Founder AVSAR articled that, The recruitment processes are undergoing momentous changes. Modern-day recruitments have risen beyond paper resumes and telephonic interviews. Talent acquisitions today, emphasise on assessing candidate’s skills beyond their domains. This is done to hire an employee who can adapt to the fast-paced environment making it imperative that the aspirant is quite conversant with technology. Candidates who can effectively answer the deadlines are vital, but so are the ones who are more suited to learn the techniques that will be required tomorrow.

The ever-evolving tech space has produced a generation of recruiters that are proactive, tech-savvy, strategic with their hiring and expect the same from the recruits.

Apart from an updated profile and intention to retain, the following seven trends are expected to rule the hiring landscape:

Candidate Relationship Management (CRM)

People are often advised to end their terms on a good note. This is the reason behind the saying. As talent recruitment trends are aspirant-driven, Candidate Relationship Management is emerging as one of the top hiring trends this year. It calls for a structured approach that involves healthy relationship with its past, present and potential employees. The method uses data analysis regarding a candidate’s history with the firm to improve business relationships, customer retention to drive sales. Besides, following the approach, a company is always geared up to hire the right candidate as and when required, without losing valuable time searching for the right candidate.

Internal pool preference

A long-term association is fruitful for all kinds of investment. Companies nowadays too dwell in this culture and prefer employees who are already a part of their organisation rather than hiring someone from the outside. Hence, companies are now focusing on creating and maintaining their talent pool. A scarcity of qualified personnel in the labour market has led companies to look for potential talent within their workplaces. This reduces recruitment costs and decreases the hiring time for the enterprise.

Soft skills

Looking at the trends, businesses will be actively hiring for soft skills. An employer will be in search of all-rounder talents who can work across sundry domains, be solution-oriented and action-oriented, be tech-conversant to interact with peers virtually, be able to get along with others and invite cooperation when needed, be able to understand the importance of human relationships beyond cultures to attain professional goals, and possess organised thinking, etc. So, overall, the new job market would be based on transdiscipline, design mindset, virtual collaboration, social intelligence, cross-cultural competency, computational thinking, among others.

Employer Branding

Powerful Employer brands are 50% more likely to receive applications from qualified candidates. Employer brand is mirrored through five Employee Value Propositions (EVP): Compensation, Career trajectory, benefits, Work environment and culture. Thus businesses across the world will focus on strengthening EVP to invite and retain quality employees.

Metrics based hiring

The companies would be relying upon tangible facts and statistics to guide their hiring decisions. It could range from selecting candidates to creating hiring plans. Data-based hiring is more likely to be efficient in reducing the cost and improving the hiring standards as it explores other metrics of time-to-hire, applicants-per-hire, cost-per-hire, etc. The data acquired through HR technologies such as Applicants Tracking System and Recruitment Marketing Platforms will be utilised to recruit the right fit for the business.

Social Media Hiring

Retaining its position as the last year, social media would continue to be a driving force behind many recruitments. The trend is expected to gain momentum in the coming years as almost 84% of businesses are hiring using social media today. Companies are utilising the platform to build a candidate’s relationship with the brand than just posting a vacancy online.

Use of AI in hiring

2020 will see a surge in the use of technology such as artificial intelligence for recruitment purposes. The technology will be used to streamline or automate some parts of the hiring process which are repetitive and are high-volume tasks. This entails the use of NLP, candidate data and pattern recognition for gaining insights into candidates.

In the ever-competitive markets, the levels of hiring processes are all set to get challenging for candidates. It is thus advisable to stay abreast of technological and industrial developments to counter any surprises during the hiring process. A self-evaluation based on the aforementioned trends will get you a clearer picture. One must strive to compete with none but beat their records to fare well in all competitions.
