IIM Visakhapatnam records 100 percent placements, highest package Rs 27 lakh

Beating the ongoing slowdown headwinds, the final placement season of the Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) has been successfully completed with 100 percent placements for the fourth consecutive year. The average salary for the top quartile of the graduating batch of the MBA students (2018-20) is Rs 18.67 lakh per annum (LPA) and for the top half it is Rs 15.73 LPA. The average salary for the batch is Rs 13.08 LPA. Above all, the highest salary package is Rs 27 LPA.

IIM-V Director, Prof M Chandrasekhar said that the batch broke all previous records. “Held on a rolling basis, the placement season witnessed more than 75 companies participating in the placement process and making multiple offers. I congratulate the student cohort for scaling new peaks in career-goals and setting even higher standards in the extremely rewarding offers received. This is yet another demonstration of the unmatched strengths of the Institute and its commitment to advancing new knowledge and innovation that prepares the students for the challenges of the modern-day businesses. Beating the seasonal headwinds and building on the successful record of the past, the Institute’s students not only bagged niche roles with industry leaders, but also went a step further to create new records in the rich-profile roles and packages won.,” said Prof Chandrasekhar.

Accounting for 39% placements the IT/ITES sectors continued to bet big on new talent, followed by BFSI (Banking, financial services and insurance) sector offering 16% placements. The other dominant sectors were education and technology (6%), infrastructure (6%), manufacturing (6%), logistics (5%), automobile (4%), conglomerate (3%), hospitality (3%), consulting (3%), luxury goods (2%), FMCG (2%), e-commerce (2%), pharmaceutical (1%), media & advertising (1%), and, food (1%).

Chairperson, Career Development Services (CDS), IIM-V, Prof Deepika Gupta, said; “Even in the prevailing tough business environment and difficult times, where slowdown is widely anticipated and is being experienced, our students bucked the trend and achieved 100% results. This is a loud and clear manifestation of our recruiters’ continuing faith, trust and confidence in us and in the capabilities of our students. I congratulate the batch for their top-class performance and am sure the next batch is already gearing up to break these records,” said Prof Gupta.
