ICAI CA exam 2020: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has extended the registration date for the CA Foundation courses. As per the official notice, the last date has been extended from June 30 to August 31, 2020. The decision was taken due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The notice published on the website reads the following
“Extension of time period for registration in Foundation Course from 30th June, 2020 to 31st August, 2020 for appearing in Foundation Examination to be held in November, 2020
The Council of the ICAI has relaxed the eligibility criteria to register in Foundation Course due to outbreak of Covid- 19 as a one-time measure and has extended the last date for registration to the Foundation Course from 30th June, 2020 to August 31, 2020”

Important details to keep in mind
According to the notice, the candidate can apply for an “provisionally register” in the foundation course “if a candidate has been either allotted the admit card or the candidate has appeared in one or more papers or appeared in one or more papers in the month of February and March in a a Senior Secondary (Class 12) examination” conducted by any of the recognized examination boards in India.
ICAI has mentioned that candidates can appear in the foundation examinations in November after passing the the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination conducted by an examining body as mentioned above.
Supreme Court’s hearing
In the mean time, ICAI has told the Supreme Court on Thursday, that it would require more time to assess the feasibility of conducting the CA exams scheduled to be held between July 29 and August 16.
The Supreme Court has mentioned that it will hear this matter on July 10, 2020.
