People are expressing different views about the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Pallam Raju addressed media on Sunday, August 02, 2020, in order to share their opinions about the NEP 2020. Pallam Raju who has been the Union Minister of Human Resource and Development said that roadmap for the implementation of the New Education Policy is missing.
He further added that there was no need to bring this policy at this point in time. He thinks that there should have been some discussion before launching the New Education Policy because it coming after a span of six years. He substantiated his argument by saying that whenever UPA had introduced a new education norm, it had discussed in parliament. “Total ignorance of UPA contribution in education policy can be seen,” he added.

Former HRD Minister, Pallam Raju, said, “We would like to question where the roadmap is, and how will the government implement it, how will the resources be allocated.” He also questioned if adequate funds can be allocated to establish institutions.
Further, he criticized that there is no acknowledgment of the right to education act in the New Education Policy. Online education was too questioned by the minister.
What is NEP 2020?
The NEP was approved by the Union Cabinet at a meeting presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. It replaces the 34-year-old National Policy on Education framed in 1986 and is aimed at paving the way for transformational reforms in school and higher education systems to make India a global knowledge superpower.
