IIT Madras receives over 10000 application for its Online BSc in Programming and Data Science course

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced that around 10,000 students have registered for the Undergraduate (UG) online degree in Programming and Data Science as of August 8. The institute had launched the online programme on June 30. Union Human Resource Development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had launched the programme through a webinar. The institute had begun the online application process for its newly launched BSc Degree in Programming and Data Science (regular entry) on August 3. Students who have passed class 12th exam can enroll online at onlinedegree.iitm.ac.in. Students seeking admission to the online BSc Degree in Programming and Data Science at IIT madras can apply online at onlinedegree.iitm.ac.in till September 15, 2020.

IIT Madras with this will be offering the first online degree programme. The online BSc Degree in Programming and Data Science is open to anyone who has qualified Class 12 examination, studied English and Maths during Class 10, and are enrolled in any on-campus undergraduate course.

This online UG programme will be offered in three different stages – Foundational Programme, Diploma Programme and Degree Programme. Students can exit from the program at any stage and receive a Certificate, Diploma or Degree, respectively, from IIT Madras.

The online application fee is Rs. 3000. The fees paid will give access to 4 weeks of course content for the qualifier process and the qualifier exam. The maximum number of applications are limited to 2,50,000. Applications will be closed once it reaches 2,50,000 applications or on 15th September 2020, whichever occurs first, press release issued by IIT-M said.
