The National Testing Agency, an organisation that conducts entrance examinations for higher educational institutions, released the date for a medical entrance exam, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and an engineering entrance exam, Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE) exams on Friday, August 21, 2020. The examination body released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) today on Tuesday, August 26, 2020.

- Candidate need to maintain social distancing
- Seating plan to be allowed to maintain the social distancing
- Staggered slot for the candidates reporting at exam centers

List of items permitted inside NEET-JEE exam centres
- Gloves and masks for all staffs on examination duty
- Gloves and masks for candidates in case they don’t come with their own
- Hand sanitizer at entry and inside the exam centers
- Spray bottles, sponges /cloths for disinfecting items such as desk/tables/door handles
- Spray entire exam centers floors, walls, doors, gates with a disinfectant backpack
- Staff verification and self-declaration for exam functionary
- Thermo gun for temp reading at entrance points
- Separate lines for boys and girls (upto 20 boys/ 20 girls)
- Body pat frisking will not be done
- Frisking by metal detector held with a long handle will be mandatory for all candidates.

Different voices coming from all directions against controversial NEET-JEE exam
A few days ago around four thousand students went on a hunger strike demanding the government to postpone the JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exam. The movement was supported by political leaders including Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, DMK President MK Stalin, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who too requested the Central Government to cancel the exams.
Environmental and climate activist Greta Thunberg has also tweeted in support of the students requesting the government to postpone the upcoming JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exams.
