Symbiosis Lit Fest 2020 starts today

Symbiosis International (deemed university) will organise a two-day literary festival online on Saturday and Sunday (October 17 and 18) titled Lit Fest 2020. In the festival, speakers from varied sectors will talk about their opinions and will put forward the ideas on the current activities in the country. Symbiosis is celebrating its golden jubilee year in the year 2020 and the literary festival is a part of the celebrations.

“Millions of people the world over entering isolation to fight against the spread of Coronavirus COVID19, the need for positivity have become even more critical. The motto behind organizing a Lit Fest is to motivate the students, staff and the society in general. Apart from offering education, a University has to play a role in the society wherein thought-provoking activities are conducted. A Literary Festival is a part of these activities,” said the official note.

The inauguration of the festival is on Saturday at 11:30 am where Shashi Tharoor, MP from Lok Sabha is the Chief Guest. SB Mujumdar, founder & president of Symbiosis will preside over the function. After the inaugural ceremony, author Chetan Bhagat will be reading from” India Positive” and his columns. In the second session Shobhaa De, a novelist, will have a conversation “Saying it Like It Is” with Anupam Siddharth, Director, ELTIS-SIFIL. In the third session, Rajdeep Sardesai Indian news anchor, will be in conversation with Ruchi Jaggi, Director SIMC, Pune. In the last session of the day S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs will talk about “The India Way: Strategies for an Uncertain World” in conversation with former diplomat Gautam Bambawale, said the official note.

On day two, as per the official schedule, speakers like Shekhar Gupta, journalist and author, Pavan Varma, a former Indian Foreign Service officer, Javed Akhtar, Manu Pillai, TCA Raghavan and Parvati Sharma will be present.
