TS EAMCET 2020 Telangana Government relaxes eligibility criteria for the exam Check details here

The state government of Telangana has informed about its decision to relax the eligibility criteria for the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Entrance Common Entrance Test, TSEAMCET 2020. The GO 201 issued in this regard was issued on October 29, 2020.

The order has come as a relief to those students who could not score 45 per cent in 10+2 exams of the state which are minimum qualifying marks for admissions. The general trend followed till date was to add weightage of 45 per cent (general category) and 40 per cent (reserved category) in the HSE exams conducted to the qualifying exams. The move of doing away with the qualifying marks is only for this year.

“In view of the extraordinary circumstances prevailing due to the pandemic, the government has decided that sub-clause (ii) of Clause-2, as contemplated under the TS EAMCET-2020 exams notification, shall not apply in respect of those students who have passed the 10+2 examination and who have qualified for the TS EAMCET 2020,” the order issued by Education Secretary Chitra Ramachandran read.

The government has allowed all those students, who have cleared the intermediate exam and qualified in the entrance test, to be eligible for admission into engineering colleges.

The order is only a one-time act and will not be valid from next year onwards that is for the session of 2021. It added, “It has also decided to direct the TS EAMCET-2020 authorities to permit such students to appear for counselling in respect of TS EAMCET (Admissions)-2020, without insisting on the eligibility criteria for qualifying examination marks. This order applies only for this year i.e. 2020-2021 as a special case. It shall not be applied from 2021-2022.”
