Management Aptitude Test or more commonly know as MAT is a standardised test that has been conducted since 1998. The aim of MAT is to help business schools to screen candidates when it comes to admission for MBA and allied programs. The government of India has approved MAT as a national level test back in 2003 and B-schools both national and international can use the scores of MAT to admit students into their institution. Over 600 B-schools in the country consider MAT scores when it comes to admitting students and scoring high scores in MAT can help you to get into your desired B-school and lay foundations for starting a successful professional career. Aspiring candidates can opt from 50 different cities across the country as exam centres. The exams which are conducted on three modes such as Computer Based Test (CBT), Paper Based Test (PBT), and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) are conducted four times per year. The application fee for PBT, CBT, and IBT are 1,650 rupees and if you are applying for both PBT and CBT, the application fees will increase to 2,750. Let’s start with the four important dates that candidates should know about the December MAT. The registration for the exam began back on October fifth, 2020 and the registration process will only end on 29th November 2020. Candidates will receive the admit card for the exam starting from December first, 2020. Finally, the PBT date for December MAT 2020 is on the sixth of the same month. Aspiring candidates will have three exam slots to appear for the exam and they are 10 am to 12:30 pm, 4 pm to 6:30 pm, and 6 pm to 8:30 pm. With that being clarified, now let’s get to know more about the December MAT 2020 registration process.
Aspiring candidates should register online for the MAT exam through the official site of MAT and one thing to know is that the entry in the MAT registration form can only be filled in English. The following steps should be completed by aspiring candidates when it comes to applying for December MAT 2020.
- Create a login account on AIMA MAT
- After logging in, candidates can fill the application form for MAT
- After filling the application form, candidates have the opportunity to verify the details that they have just filled in
- Then candidates will have the options to choose the exam mode, the city where you want to appear for the test, and then by clicking on the ‘Save & Next’ button, one can process the payment
- Finally, pay the exam fees which can be done through debit or credit card, wallet, UPI or net banking

- A scanned image of a photograph which should be in jpg or jpeg format (the file size of the image shouldn’t be less than 40 kb). Also, the photograph should be a recent colour photo which should be in passport size
- A scanned image of signature which should be in jpg or jpeg format (the file size of the image shouldn’t be less than 10 kb). Signature should be on white paper using a black ink pen and only scan the signature area
- Net banking, Paytm wallet, or debit or credit card details
- The details regarding your educational qualification
With that said, now let’s take a look at the eligibility criteria for December MAT 2020
- The applying candidate should be a graduate from a recognized University (candidates can be from any academic stream)
- It should also be noted that candidates who are in their final year of graduation can also apply for MAT
- Another aspect is that there is no minimum score in graduation criteria or age limit for appearing for MAT
The duration of MAT exams is 150 minutes and there will be 200 MCQ questions which will be divided into different categories such as language and comprehension, mathematical skills, data analysis and sufficiency, critical reasoning along with intelligence, as well as global and Indian environment. The exams will be conducted in English and +1 mark is awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
