Karnataka colleges to reopen from November 17 following SOPs

From November 17 the Karnataka college going to reopen by following the SOPs formula: As per the UGC guidelines, the department of higher education has formulated SOPs(Standardized Operation Procedure), in view of the opening of degree, engineering, and diploma colleges in the state from November 17.

On Monday the deputy Chief Minister Dr. CN Ashwatha Narayana, who is also the minister of higher education informed that the preparation is underway to enable the start of the off-line classes.

Dr. CN Ashwatha Narayana said that “The SOP has Separate advisories set for the students of the final year and the classes will be conducted accordingly. Likewise, there are separate advisories set for the students of first and second-year students of the courses”.

The students studying final year and postgraduates who wish to attend the physical class have to bring the consent letter from their parents with duly signed.

Social distance needs to be maintained while conducting the physical classes by taking into account the total number of students and the available total number of classrooms, as per the guidelines of the health department and the present advisories.

For those students who want to skip attending physical classes, an online facility will be there. And if it is necessary, teaching, practical and project classes should be conducted on a shift system.

The offline classes will be conducted every day as per SOPs to equip students for the purpose of clarifying the doubts and issues related to topics in the subjects.

SOP said that,”The time table should be prepared at the college level itself so as to enable to maintain the social distance as per the guidelines of the health department and the present advisors based on the total number of students and the available number of classrooms while conducting the contact classes”.

As per SOP the study material for one month should be prepared and shared the same via social media channels like Telegram, WhatsApp, E-mail by the teaching faculty based on each period/session.

It’s mandatory to upload the study materials on the website of the college and the Study materials should be in the form of video lectures, PowerPoint presentations, E-notes, E-books, Audiobooks, practice questions.

The students who attend online/contact classes can stay in hostels located on-campus or off-campus have to read SOP (exclusively for post-graduation and final years).

General guidelines which include cleansing of buildings, entrance, furniture, teaching materials by sanitizers, COVID-19 test of teaching faculty, students and non-teaching staff, and others should be followed apart from these the SOPs.
