UP government allows higher education institutes to open from November 23 2020

According to the government order, the classes have to follow some restrictions like maintaining social distancing, using hand sanitizers, thermal scanning, and other facilities.

In addition to that, the spokesperson said that the additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Monika Garg has issued a detailed order to all the state and private universities, district magistrates, and registrars.

And also he said that “The classes will be run in a phased manner and it has been made mandatory for teachers, students, and employees to wear identity cards”.

The institutions asked to prepare an academic calendar and run the further classes as per rotation with 50% of students.

The UGC had notified the guidelines last week for reopening the universities and colleges across the country which have been closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vice-chancellors and heads of Central universities and other centrally-funded higher education institutions were asked to make decisions about reopening of the campuses.

However, for state universities and colleges, the respective state governments were asked to take a call.

The universities and colleges were asked to plan the opening of campuses in a phased manner, by adhering to COVID-19 norms, including social distancing, use of face masks, and other protective measures.

As per UGC guidelines, students and staff are advised not to visit containment zones. 

On March 16, Universities across the country were closed to reduce the spread of coronavirus infection. On March 25, a nationwide lockdown came into effect.
