NAAC Accreditation

IGNOU becomes the first open university to achieve a good score in NAAC accreditation

After a series of rigorous data collection and evaluation, Indra Gandhi National University becomes the first distance learning university to get accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council India (NAAC). Soon after NAAC announced its guidelines for accreditation of distance learning in 2019, IGNOU started its NAAC journey that lasted over a year to culminate with a whooping score of A++ grade, which was conferred upon IGNOU for its efforts.

The good news was confirmed by the government agency of the University Grants Commission on January 8th across its official channels, in which a statement confirming the A++ grade for IGNOU University was issued. Following this phenomenal update, the jubilant VC of IGNOU, Mr Nageshwar Rao had some nice words to share “The entire evaluation was done by a third-party team through an in-depth data collection process which included various parameters like student feedback, existing college system, existing learning management system etc. Though the process was tough we were happy to get accreditated by the official NAAC team that comprises of 7 serving Vice-Chancellors who took into account the positive feedback from 30,000 students and professionals before making their final decision.”

“While we already had quality courses and top-notch learning materials to cater to the education needs of our audience, what we lacked was an official statement that credited the same,” said Mr Rao “Hence when NAAC released its guidelines for distance learning we started our process and worked our way towards the grade we got credited with. This adds further credibility to the top-notch education services for which IGNOU is known for. Though we got a good score of A++ in NAAC, we also have received some valid suggestions from the official team, which we are planning to work on” says Mr Rao following NAAC’s announcement. With official NAAC in place, we can expect exciting courses from a distance learning education institution that is well known for its unique and quality education services.
