Online Open Book Examination begins at Jamia Millia Islamia

Online open-book examination for students of odd semester/Year (except 1st Semester) kicked off successfully today with no complaints of technical glitches from students. Exams for undergraduate courses were held in the morning shift while postgraduate students appeared in the afternoon shift.

Number of students who appeared in exam

A total of 1008 students from undergraduate courses and 1099 students from postgraduate courses took exam today. Teachers were present in their respective departments to respond to queries of students related to question paper and other issues.

Students were given 3 hours to write their answers while 1 hour was provided to upload their answer sheets on the portal. An alternative email id was also provided to students if in case uploading of answer sheets on the portal was difficult due to low internet speed.

Number of students to appear in Open Book exam

A total of about 9 thousand students will appear in this open book examination which will continue till February 19, 2021.

While wishing good luck to students appearing in examination Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, JMI said that considering the demand of students and parents and keeping in mind the health concerns of students, decision to conduct open book examination was taken. It was a big challenge to conduct the exam as we have to save the academic year as well as health concerns of students.

Online classes for next semester will start soon after the conclusion of the examination, Prof. Akhtar said.
