Schools have been closed for more than 10 months due to the Coronavirus. Due to this, the year end examinations from class 1 to class 10 were canceled. Meanwhile, students are being educated through an online class. Yesterday (01 Feb) Chief Minister Palaniswami launched the first 2GB free data plan for students studying in government and government-aided major colleges. Approximately 969,047 students will benefit from this program.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has already ordered that 2GB of daily data be provided free of cost to college students studying online through ELCOT for 4 months from January to April 2021. Chief Minister Palaniswami inaugurated the project at the General Secretariat on Feb 01.
969,047 students studying in government and government-aided arts and science colleges, polytechnic colleges, engineering colleges and self-funded colleges will be provided with a free data card through ELCOT to receive 2GB of data per day for four months to enable students to attend online classes.
