250+ Hours of Online Courses Help Teach Data Literacy, Research Skills, and More

SAGE Campus

New SAGE Campus Modules Also Help Researchers Navigate Publishing Process

The past week, SAGE Campus launched seven online courses to help instructors teach critical skills such as data gathering and literacy and to support researchers in their publishing endeavours. The seven new courses will be followed by nine more in July, bringing the SAGE Campus suite to 27 courses total and over 250 hours of material.

Now available for institution-wide access through library subscriptions, Campus’ new courses include:

Other courses launched this month are Research Question by Dr Zina O’Leary, Present Your Research, also by Dr. Zina O’Leary, and How to Write a Journal Article Pt. 1: Putting Your Article Together. July’s launch will include courses such as See Numbers in Data, Research Proposal, and Peer Review, Feedback, and Decisions.

Launched in 2017, Campus initially aimed to help social science researchers build data science skills. Four years later, the content of Campus has expanded significantly to support the teaching and learning of skills and research methods across all stages of academic study. The recently redesigned platform now allows for faculty to assign courses and track student progress and can be used in flipped classrooms or asynchronous teaching, as supplementary material, or to replace face-to-face learning.

“As the research and publishing landscapes continue to change and develop, it can be daunting for early career researchers to get started,” remarks Rachel Crookes, Head of SAGE Campus. “By working with instructors and researchers to better understand learning gaps—especially during a pandemic—and then bringing in expert instructors to write online courses, SAGE is taking another step to help develop the future of social scientists and research.”

Free modules of the courses are available to take now at the SAGE Campus demo hub and librarians can request a 30-day institution-wide trial to SAGE Campus.
