Himachal Pradesh Technical University to start 12 new courses

Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) will start 12 new courses from the next session. This decision was taken at a meeting of the Board of Governors here today.

  • The HPTU, Palampur, will organise its third convocation on March 9
  • A meeting of the Board of Governors also approved infrastructure development projects for the university, including the construction of hostels for boys and girls, staff quarters and shops.

SP Bansal, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said that the 12 new courses include M.Sc (Mathematics), PG Diploma in Vedic Mathematics, B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, Integrated course in Master of Computer Application, PG Diploma in Internet of Things, PG Diploma in Forensic Science, MBA, MA (Hindi), MA (Sanskrit) and a one-year course in Performing Arts. He added that all colleges affiliated with the HPTU could run these courses. The meeting also approved doctorate degrees in management and engineering disciplines and to provide five marks as grace to all students following the coronavirus outbreak.

Bansal said that the university would organise its third convocation on March 9 and Governor Bandaru Dattatreya would confer degrees upon the students. He added that the meeting also approved infrastructure development projects for the university, including the construction of hostels for boys and girls, staff quarters and shops.

The meeting was attended by members, including MLAs Narender Thakur, and Arun Kumar; JC Bose, Vice-Chancellor of STU, Faridabad; SS Patnayak, Director, NITTR, Chandigarh; Amar Negi, Joint Director of Department of Technical Education; Anupam Thakur, Registrar; Kulbhushan Chandel, Dean Academics; Rajinder Guleria, Dean Student Welfare; Dheerender Sharma, Pawan Garg and Uttam Patial, Finance Officer.
