IIT Bombay Offers Free Online Course on Creating Android Apps on SWAYAM Platform

IIT Bombay is accepting applications for a free online course on how to create an ‘Android app using Kotlin software. Kotlin software is a new open-source programming language,  that runs on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and has been built by JetBrains, known for IntelliJ IDEA (Android Studio is based on IntelliJ IDEA). Kotlin has been announced as an official language on Android by Google.

This course consists of 10 audio-video spoken tutorials that can be taken up by learners at their convenience once they register on the SWAYAM platform. The program is an All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) approved FDP course, which will be conducted by Kannan M Moudgalya who is a professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The course could take approximately 8 weeks to finish and is most suited for undergraduate and post-graduate students.

The SWAYAM platform says that while the Android app, source code, and the content for the course was contributed by Abhishek Shah, a 2018 FOSSEE intern of the Spoken-Tutorial Project from Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College, Gujarat, the Spoken Tutorial effort for Android app using Kotlin has been contributed by Nirmala Venkat and supported by Saurabh Adhikary and Nancy Varkey from Spoken Tutorial project, IIT Bombay.
