About the Program
MEXT Scholarship (University Recommendation) 2021 is an initiative for UG applicants who wish to pursue their studies at Asia Pacific University (APU). This scholarship is awarded to outstanding international students who are recommended by APU. The selected scholars will get a 100% tuition fee waiver and other financial benefits.
Scholarship Details
MEXT Scholarship (University Recommendation) 2021, Deadline: 17-Nov-2021
Eligibility:
The eligible applicant must:
- Intend to study abroad in Japan from overseas.
- Not have Japanese nationality and be a national of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
- Be born on or after April 2, 1987.
- Have achieved a GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale at their most recent university.
Benefits:
The selected scholars will get the following awards:
- 100% of the tuition fee.
- JPY 144,000 per month for living expenses (amount subject to change)
- Economy class air travel between the home country and APU at the beginning and end of the program.
How can you apply?
Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship through the following steps –

Step 3: Submit the APU application by November 17, 2021 (for September 2022 Enrollment)

- Last Date of Application: 17th November 2021
Terms and Conditions
- Applicants selected to be recommended for this scholarship are notified of their final APU application results.
- The final scholarship award results are decided by MEXT.
- Those who are serving on active military duty or civilians employed by the military at the time of application are not eligible for this scholarship.
- The recipients must be able to arrive in Japan during the arrival period stipulated by APU.
- The recipients of this scholarship cannot receive a scholarship from another scholarship organization while studying at APU.
- The recipients of this scholarship must have “student” as their status of residence (visa status) in Japan.Note – For detailed information, kindly refer to ‘Fellowship Detail Document’.
