Atal Rankings

Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements to be declared on Dec 29

Subhas Sarkar, the minister of state for education, will be awarding the Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021 via virtual mode tomorrow, i.e. December 29, 2021.

A statement by the ministry reads that ARIIA is a very unique joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and AICTE to systematically rank higher educational institutions in India on indicators related to Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship Development amongst students and faculty.

How are institutions evaluated?

The institutions are evaluated by ARIIA on the basis of various parameters like patent filing and grants, number of registered students and faculty startups, fund generation by incubated startups, specialised infrastructure created by institutions to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, etc.

Importance of ARIIA ranking

In a statement, the Ministry of Education said, “We have also emerged as the world’s third-largest startup hub but still we have huge scope for improvement.”

“Institutes will become a fountainhead of next-generation technology-driven start-ups if we can create a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. ARIIA ranking is a major attempt in that direction,” said the statement further.

Participation doubled

Abhay Jere, the chief innovation officer of the Ministry of Education, informed that ARIIA-2021 has seen unprecedented participation as compared to earlier editions.
