NSUI asks UGC to conduct online exam for universities amid spike in Covid-19 cases

The student wing of Congress, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has asked the Union Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct university exams in online mode amid a spike in Covid-19 cases. NSUI has said that they can’t compromise with students’ health.

The president of NSUI, Neeraj Kundan, has raised concerns over the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in India. He said that students and guardians from across the country have mailed and called them to ask UGC to conduct exams online.

The NSUI has asked UGC to look into this matter seriously and urgently as examinations are scheduled in February and March and policy should be made so that the academic year of the students does not get wasted and they can have plenty of time to prepare for another exam.

NSUI said that students are in the third year of the pandemic and there is still no specialised evaluation policy that has been made for the students. Teachers and students are not fully vaccinated and Covid-19 cases are increasing day-by-day in the country. Therefore, no risk should be taken in the pandemic.
