Large number of UPTET students unable to appear for exam after denied entry into exam centre

A large number of UPTET aspirants were unable to appear for the exam held on January 23 after the were denied entry at the Sector 30 DPS exam centre. It was the lack of certain documents that made officials refuse them entry for the major teacher recruitment exam.

A UPTET aspirant told ANI that officials wanted them to produce the principal’s signature which had not been possible because the concerned person was in Allahabad. Printouts of BEd marksheets had to be attested and without that, students were not allowed entry.

As per ANI, Noida ADCP Ranvijay Singh said that the only aspirants debarred entry were those who were missing valid documents.

“Those not having valid documents were not allowed, as per the officials here…For mark sheet attestation, they should have it signed either by the Principal or a concerned officer, but they got it from somewhere (else)…which is why they were denied entry,” Singh said as per ANI.

Exam centres for UPTET

Hapur district had 14 exam centres for UPTET and arrangements had been made with proper security.

In the first shift, 7265 candidates were supposed to appear for the exam while 5336 were supposed to appear in the second shift.

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test was held across 4,365 examination centers in total, set up in all 75 districts of the state.

Around 21,65,181 candidates have reportedly registered themselves for the exam.

Students left crying

Many students were seen crying at the exam centre, pleading with the Hapur deputy collector to be allowed entry.

Some of the students and their parents told India Today that they were not aware of the document requirements.

We could not get the original marksheet, so most of the examinees downloaded their marksheet from the internet and some of them did not go to school to get them attested due to which they were deprived of appearing in the examination,” said UPTET student Nandini.
