Lucknow University starts 3 new papers on gender violence women leadership

The Institute of Women’s Studies of the University of Lucknow has introduced three papers at the undergraduate level under the National Education Policy (NEP).

Two vocational courses – Women and Entrepreneurship Skill Development and Women, Leadership and Management – and a co-curricular course Gender, Violence and Mental Health have been started by the Lucknow University’s Institute of Women’s Studies.

The co-curricular course has been introduced in the third semester of the graduation and the vocational papers in the fourth semester of LU’s UG programmes. LU’s new vocational course aims at introducing the concept of women entrepreneurship with an emphasis on developing leadership skills and management skills.

As per reports, Archana Shukla, the co-ordinator of the Institute of Women’s Studies, said, “This course provides a scope for students to seek job opportunities in NGOs and organisations that work for generating employment for women groups.”

The Lucknow University earlier in a notice directed students of BCom semester II to choose one of the vocational courses and attend classes as per the timetable. It further said that it is compulsory for students to opt for at least one paper. The faculty of commerce started courses titled Introduction to Statistical Data Analysis, Financial Literacy and Banking, Computer Application and Data Management and Counselling and Guidance.
