Nmc Drafts Regulations For Ug Medical Education; Invites Suggestions

NMC issues warning against Avicenna International Medical University in Kyrgyzstan

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued draft regulations related to the National Medical Commission (Graduate Medical Education) Regulations of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board, 2023.

The UG medical draft regulations are available on the NMC website — nmc.org, and stakeholders have been asked to share comments in MS Word (.docx) format or machine readable PDF format within 30 days to comments.ugregulations@nmc.org.in.
As per the NMC draft regulations, under no circumstances the student will be allowed more than four attempts for first year and no student will be allowed to continue their undergraduate medical course after nine years from the date of admission into the course.

There shall be a variety of choice-based credit courses of duration limited to a maximum of one week, the draft said, offered by the medical institutions in addition to the NMC curriculum and the curriculum prescribed by their respective universities to their graduating students without hampering the medical graduate curriculum. There shall be an elected student association and representation of students in decision making by the medical college/ institution affecting student welfare, it added.

Migration of students from one medical college to another medical college will be granted as per the guidelines of UGMEB of NMC, only in exceptional cases to the most deserving among the applicants for good and sufficient reasons and not on routine grounds, the draft added. Migration, the draft further added, shall be from a government medical college to a government medical college and from a non-government medical college to a non-government medical college only. No mutual exchange shall be permitted.
