New Course by IITs: BTech in Mathematics and Computing by IIT-Indore

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Indore) recently introduced a new BTech Course in mathematics and computing. The course will offer undergraduate research opportunities, many laboratory courses for hands-on training and a variety of elective courses across departments to improve the skill set of students.

The course is also offered by IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and IIT Ropar. If studying mathematics along with computer resonate with you, this might be the right course for you. Here’s a brief on course structure, eligibility criteria and curriculum.

BTech in Mathematics and Computing – Course structure and seats

The programme will offer students the opportunity to study mathematics and computer science together. A total of 40 seats are available in BTech in Mathematics and Computing at IIT Indore.

It is a four-year full-time undergraduate degree programme divided into eight semesters. In each semester candidates will have to study 6 to 7 subjects along with elective options.

BTech in Mathematics and Computing – Eligibility criteria

Admission to all three programmes will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced score. Additionally, candidates must have completed class 12 (or equivalent) examination from any recognised state or central board.

BTech in Mathematics and Computing – Career Scope

The programme gives students the flexibility to opt for elective courses from other disciplines, thereby enhancing their multidimensional knowledge. Opportunities as academicians, bankers, business, computer scientists, computational engineers, data analysts, economists, financial analysts, etc are open for graduates of this course.

This degree will also enable interested students to pursue higher studies in various branches of science and technology, including computer science and mathematics.
