Allahabad University, which does not have a NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) ranking for the past 10 years, would be inspected by a team of 7 members from Tuesday morning.
The NAAC team, headed by its chairman Prof Indra Vardhan Trivedi, former vice chancellor of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He would be heading the four-member team comprising of eminent academicians from various universities of the country.
Sources inform that Prof Usha Rani D of Venkateswara University Tirupati, Andra Pradesh is the member coordinator of this all-important team which would access the ground situation at this over 125-year university before awarding a suitable rank under NAAC.
The team also has Prof Y S Siddegowda, VC of Tumkur University as its member. Likewise, Prof Ishwar Chandra Kedarnath Pandit of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is also one of the members of the team. The team would be inspecting various departments and facilities on the campus before awarding a new grading to AU which would be valid for Five years.
The team members would be visiting all the departments and centers in the Four faculties of AU and see for themselves all the facilities. They would also look into the past academic performance of the students and teachers of the department concerned, inspect library, examination section, different administrative sections, amenities provided to students, their past record, hostel facilities etc.
The team members could also interact with the students and also with some of the alumni of AU and get their feedback on the facilities of the institutions etc. They would also visit the hostels on the campus.
In view of preparation being made by the departments, almost all the departments have been busy setting the records in place for the past around one week. These departments were open even on last Saturday and even Sunday.
Some of the departments, including Commerce, have also put on the notice instructing all the research scholars to be present at the department from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on all the three days of the inspection by the NAAC team.
