Chitkara varsity placed 7th in swachh ranking

Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, ranks seventh on the list of cleanest higher education institutions in the country in the Swachh Campus Ranking-2019 of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, was given an appreciation certificate by R Subrahmanyam, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, in the presence of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, and other senior dignitaries at the AICTE auditorium in New Delhi on December 3. Dr Varinder Kanwar, Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, was also present at the occasion.
The Pro-Chancellor said: “It is an honour to be counted among the cleanest higher education institutions. We are committed to building a ‘Swasth Bharat’.”

The Swachh Campus Ranking is an exercise to rank higher educational institutions on the basis of cleanliness and hygiene, considered parameters, including, student/toilet ratio, kitchen hygiene, availability of running water, modernity of toilet and kitchen equipment, campus green cover, garbage disposal in hostels, academic buildings, disposal techniques, water supply systems. It also depends on whether an institution has adopted any neighbouring locality or village to spread awareness on swachhta. This year, over 7,000 institutions applied and only a select few were shortlisted.
