GGSIPU – AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) 2022-23

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must – 

  • be less than 30 years of age as on the date of admission to the University
  • have qualified GATE/ NET during the last 5 years

For General/OBC applicants – 

  • have secured a minimum of 70% (69.5 % and above) OR
  • have secured a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on a scale of 10 or equivalent at bachelor’s and master’s degree level (In the absence of percentage)

For SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) applicants – 

  • have secured a minimum of 65% (64.5 % and above) 
  • have secured a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0 on a scale of 10 or equivalent at bachelor’s and master’s degree level (In the absence of percentage)

The eligibility condition as notified by the university for admission in Ph.D. programme at the respective school is as under. To be eligible, an applicant must – 

University School of Information, Communication & Technology (USICT) – 

  • possess M.Tech. in respective or allied/specialised discipline [For Ph.D. in (CSE/IT/ECE/MAE)]
  • possess MCA/MCA(SE) or equivalent (For Ph.D. in Computer)

University School of Chemical Technology (USCT) – 

  • have an M.Tech. or equivalent degree in Chemical Technology/Chemical Engineering/allied fields by the corresponding statutory regulatory body
  • have secured at least 55% marks in aggregate (Note – A relaxation of 5% of marks is allowed for applicants belonging to SC/ST/DifferentlyAbled (PWD) category.)

University School of Bio-Technology (USBT) – 

  • hold a master’s degree (M.Sc./M.Tech.) in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Botany/Zoology/Genetics/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Plant Molecular Biology/Biochemical Engineering/Bioinformatics/or Allied Sciences, OR 
  • hold an M.Pharma or equivalent degree, OR
  • hold an MD/MS/MDS degree in any branch of Medical Sciences, OR
  • hold an M.Phil. with master’s degree in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Botany/Zoology/Genetics/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Plant Molecular Biology/Biochemical Engineering/Bioinformatics/orAllied Sciences
Benefits

  • The selected candidates will receive INR 31,000 per month for the first two years followed by INR 35,000 per month.
  • HRA will be provided at the rate of 8%, 16% and 24% as per the Government of India (GoI) norms as applicable in the city/location where the Research Fellow is pursuing their research.
  • A contingency grant will be admissible to the scholars at the rate of INR 15,000 per annum to meet the miscellaneous expenditures.

Note – HRA will not be admissible to those scholars who are availing hostel facility of the university/institute.

    • M.Tech. marksheet (consolidated/single file of all semester)

Note – All the documents must be uploaded in PDF format with <10 MB size.

After completion of two years, the upgradation from Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) will be subject to fulfilling the following mandatory eligibility conditions: 

  • A copy of the Ph.D. Registration letter
  • A copy of the marksheet for coursework completion
  • Journal Publications
  • Conference certificates
  • Approval of Research Proposal with topic details
  • Recommendation of the Institution in prescribed format

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions

  • Age relaxation of 5 years will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/Women/Physically challenged category.
  • The students serving as faculty under the Technical Education Quality the improvement Programme of Government of India (TEQIP) scheme may also apply.
  • The minimum percentage criterion for the Indian students’ qualified bachelor/master’s degree from Foreign Universities will be waived off but students must have to qualify GATE exam during the last 5 years.
  • The fellowship/HRA/contingency will be granted to research scholars admitted to the universities in the identified thrust areas of the scheme.
  • The awardees are not allowed to transfer the fellowship from the institution where the awardees are presently working for Ph.D. during the entire tenure of the fellowship.
  • The Ph.D. rules/regulations of the affiliating university will be applicable to all admitted candidates under this scheme.
  • No separate/fixed medical assistance is provided. However, the research scholar may avail the medical facilities available in the institution/university/college.
  • A degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.
  • The university will appoint a faculty as the nodal officer for the scheme who will act as an interface between the University and AICTE on various operational aspects of the scheme.
  • The university will update the joining report of the scholar along with bank account details and subsequently monthly attendance of the enrolled scholars through the AICTE online portal for the disbursement of the fellowship directly in the scholar’s account.
  • The university will ensure that scholars must be registered for a Ph.D. programme and their research proposal is approved within one year of the beginning of fellowship after completion of mandatory course work etc. falling which fellowship will be discontinued.
  • The annual progress report of the enrolled scholar will be submitted online to AICTE for the continuation of the fellowship.
  • The university/institute will maintain the reservation policy of the Government issued from time to time. At present, the reservation policy is as under –
    • Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15%
    • Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5%
    • Other Backward Class (OBC) – 27%
    • General {including EWS (Max. 10%)} : 50.5%

Cancellation of Award – 

  • The fellowship is liable to cancellation in case of –
    • misconduct
    • a scholar is found ineligible later
    • non-completion of course work, non-registration in Ph.D. and non-approval of research proposal within one year from date of joining
    • unsatisfactory progress of research work/ failure in any examination related to Ph.D.
    • any false information furnished by the applicant or any fraudulent activity by the scholar/fellow/research awardees will lead to penal action against the scholar
  • The fellowship may be terminated at any time during the tenure and the decision of the AICTE shall be final and binding.

Leaves – 

  • Research scholars are entitled to a maximum period of 15 casual leaves (CL) and 30 medical leaves (ML) in a year in addition to public holidays. They are not entitled to any other vacations and/or leave unless stated.
  • Research scholars are eligible for maternity/paternity leave as per Government of India norms issued from time to time at full rates of fellowship etc. once during the period of their award. However, the maximum period of fellowship will not be extended under any circumstances.
