Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must –
- be an Indian national
- be a scholar or writer working on different aspects of the history of independent India
Note – Past fellows under the NIF Book Fellowship are also eligible to apply.
Benefits
Each fellowship carries a grant of INR 18 lakhs payable as per the following schedule:
- INR 1 lakh will be payable as a monthly stipend for a period of 12 months
- INR 6 lakhs will be payable upon the submission of the final manuscript by the fellow to the publisher
Documents
- Original writing sample by the applicant (maximum 5,000 words)
- Book proposal (maximum 5,000 words)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)/resume
