S Indu Appointed Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has appointed S Indu as the vice-chancellor (VC) of the Delhi Technological University (DTU). She was serving as the dean student welfare (DSW) at university.

The circular said, “The lieutenant-governor, Delhi, is pleased to assign the charge of vice-chancellor, Delhi Technological University to professor S Indu, dean (student welfare), DTU with effect from September 26 until the new Vice-Chancellor assumes office.”
She will replace JP Saini, VC of Netaji Subhas University of Technology who is currently holding extra charge as VC DTU. The post of VC, DTU, has been vacant for around two years. Indu is a professor in the department of electronics and communication engineering at the DTU. Her research area includes computer vision, image processing, and wireless sensor network. She has more than 150 publications as patent, books, book chapters, peer-reviewed journals, conferences, symposia and seminars, talks and proceedings. She has a long administrative experience which includes DSW, DTU; public relationship officer (PRO), incharge of DTU studio and social media; chairperson cultural council.

She completed her Bachelor of Technology from University of Kerala and then pursued her Masters in Technology degree from the same university. She completed her PhD from University of Delhi. Delhi College of Engineering, (initially established with the name – Delhi Polytechnic) was established in 1941 to cater the needs of Indian industries for trained technical manpower with practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge. Until 1962, the college was under the direct control of the union ministry of education. It was then transferred to the Delhi Government in 1963. In July 2009 it was accorded the status of public university.
