DCs to decide on closure of schools, colleges based on current Covid-19 situation: Karnataka CM

Karnataka witnessed a rise in the cases of Covid-19, and to curb the spread of disease the state government has left the decision with the DCs of the respective districts for the same. In a meeting, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai ordered district collectors to take decisions on schools, depending on the current situation prevailing in the state.

After testing positive for Covid-19, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai conducted a virtual meeting to analyse the situation and the necessary steps to be taken for the situation.

Bengaluru witnessed a rise in Covid-19 cases

Bengaluru schools were earlier closed as the city witnessed a sharp rise in the number of cases. However, the Health Department of the state is keeping a close eye on the overall situation. Schools in another part of Karnataka have not been closed as yet.

The decision has been left with district collectors

In the current crisis, the decision has been left with the local authorities’ basis on the ground situation in their districts. DCs, if they feel it, have the authority to close the schools and also reopen the schools.
