Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships 2024

Eligibility

To be eligible, the applicants must:-

  • be an Indian passport holder who is residing in India at the time of application born on or after 1st January 1994
  • hold a first-class degree or equivalent from a recognised university/institution in India
  • fulfill the below-mentioned academic criteria:
    • Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Fine Arts, Architecture, and related subjects: a minimum academic grade of 65%, CGPA 6.8/10, or GPA 2.6/4
    • Mathematics, Sciences, Environment, and related subjects: a minimum academic grade of 70%, CGPA 7.2/10, or GPA 2.8/4
  • hold an English language certification as a conditional part of their offer letter
  • have received a valid deferred offer letter for the academic year 2024-25

Note:- 

  • Candidates having a postgraduate qualification (e.g. Master’s or Ph.D.) from an institution abroad are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who are already studying or have started their postgraduate education at an institution abroad are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree from a recognised foreign university, with two years of continuous residence, employment, or study in India after graduation are eligible.
Benefits

Selected students will receive a one-time support of USD 1,00,000 along with a travel allowance for a one-way ticket in addition to the tuition, maintenance, and health insurance.

Note:- 

  • The foundation will not provide any scholarships for visas, travel, and health insurance in isolation.
  • If the course costs more than the scholarship amount, applicants must demonstrate financial self-sufficiency for the remaining expenses at the time of application.
Documents

  • Academic transcripts, including degrees, certificates, marksheets, etc.
  • Course-related portfolio/links/writing samples
  • Updated Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Photograph (in JPEG or PNG format)
  • TOEFL/IELTS/GRE score sheets (if applicable)
  • Extracurricular attainments (if any)
  • Fee statement as below:
    • If the tuition fees are mentioned in the offer letter, then highlight the fee and upload the letter in the fee statement section as a PDF File format document.
    • If the tuition fee is not mentioned in the offer letter, then from the university website, download the tuition document, highlight the fees of the course, and upload it as a PDF file format.
  • Proof of additional funding such as personal bank statements/parent(s)/relative bank statements, and/or investment with a letter of authority/personal investment documents/approval letter of an educational loan, etc. (Note:- No property documents are allowed.)
  • Passport (Note:- If expired, continue to upload the old passport along with the receipt of the application made for a new one as one PDF file document.)
  • Admission/offer letter (Note:- If the applicant has not received an admission/offer letter by 22nd March 2024, an acknowledgment of the application to the said University can be uploaded in a PDF file format.)
  • 2 academic references (for students), and one professional one for those who are working (Note:- The reference letter must be on a letterhead.)
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship by following the below-mentioned steps:-
Step 1: Click on the Apply Now button.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Register’ button and fill in the required details to ‘Register’. (Note – If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID.)
Step 3: Read the details carefully and click on the ‘FOR APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS CLICK HERE’ button.
Step 4: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format, and submit.

Important Dates

Applications Starting Date: 6th February 2024
Application Closing Date: 22nd March 2024 by 12 noon
Selection CriteriaThe selection process consists of the following three stages:-

  • review of eligible applications
  • online preliminary interviews with candidates chosen from the review
  • a final in-person interview with those who succeed in the preliminary interview

Applicants will be assessed based on their past, and present achievements, and future potential.

Candidates applying for scholarships in art and design (fine/performing arts) will be primarily assessed on their portfolios.

The decision made by the Inlaks Selection Committee will be considered final.

Note:- Candidates who do not receive any communication from the Foundation by 19th April 2024 must assume that their applications have not been successful.

Terms and Conditions

  • Only one submission per candidate will be accepted.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • If the scholarship does not commence within nine months of award, it will be forfeited.
  • Students applying to specific universities may receive additional funding. These universities include:
    • Imperial College London
    • The Royal College of Art (RCA) London
    • The University of Cambridge (Cambridge Trust)
    • Sciences Po Paris
    • King’s College London
    • Hertie School Berlin

The foundation offers joint scholarships with these institutions, potentially exceeding the USD 100,000 limit, to eligible applicants.

  • Recipients of the Foundation’s award may also pursue other funding sources, such as teaching assistantships or part-time jobs. However, they are required to inform the Foundation of any additional funding they are receiving.
  • Fieldwork in India during the program is not permitted for scholarship applicants, except for PhD students in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Arts & Humanities applying under the King’s College London collaboration.
  • The foundation gives scholarships in a variety of subjects but DOES NOT fund the following courses:
    • Business and Finance
    • Computer Science
    • Public Health
    • Fashion Design
    • Hospitality and Tourism
    • Management Studies (i.e. MBA)
    • Medicine, Dentistry, and related therapies
    • Engineering (except Engineering and Natural Sciences at Imperial College, London)
    • Film and Film Animation (except Documentary filmmaking)
    • Indian Studies without Contemporary Relevance
    • Music (except Western Classical singing)
